Most anticipated games of 2026-2027: the next 30 PC and console releases with dates

More than 30 games. Not forgotten little Steam projects. Heavy hitters, cult franchises coming back, and new studios with huge ambitions, all packed into roughly 15 months.

You might have expected GTA 6 to scare everyone off the calendar. The opposite happened: everybody is shipping. FPS, RPG, horror, open world, co-op, extraction shooters… there is something for every taste. Get your wallet ready.

October 10, 2026 update: every date was re-checked against official publisher announcements and Steam pages. What changed since July:

• 10 games are out (Black Flag Resynced, Halo: Campaign Evolved, The Blood of Dawnwalker, CONTROL Resonant, Gears of War: E-Day…). They now sit in the "Already released" section at the end, with their launch date.
• Phantom Blade Zero was delayed from September 9 to October 29, 2026.
• 9 new games join the list: Castlevania: Belmont's Curse, Final Fantasy VII Revelation, Exodus, Kingdom Hearts IV, Ananta, Football Manager 27, Boltgun 2, Valor Mortis and The Witcher 3 – Songs of the Past.
• Names and dates fixed: Stranger Than Heaven (RGG Studio), NO LAW (Neon Giant), ILL (Team Clout), AZUR (KADES Studio). When no official date exists, we say so: "date not announced".

Next 5 releases to watch: Valor Mortis (October 13), Boltgun 2 (October 14), Castlevania: Belmont's Curse (October 15), Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 (October 23) and Phantom Blade Zero (October 29). Release date: February 4, 2027 — PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S (source: Deep Silver / 4A Games, checked October 10, 2026).

Almost 8 years after Metro Exodus, 4A Games takes us back into the Moscow metro. No more open wastelands: we return to the dark, claustrophobic tunnels that defined the series. You play Stranger, a man haunted by nightmares who must go back underground after a faction called the New Reich has taken control.

Fascist rule, survival, stealth, horror: a bit of Wolfenstein with Metro's atmosphere. The date is now official (February 5 in some Asian and Oceanian territories).

Release date: October 23, 2026 — PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2 (source: Activision, checked October 10, 2026).

Infinity Ward is in charge, and MW4 aims to be a true follow-up to 2019's Modern Warfare. The setting moves to the Korean peninsula, Price and Ghost are back, and the tone is darker than recent Black Ops entries. DMZ returns in a reworked form.

Pre-orders unlock the campaign early, starting October 16, 2026. There is no PS4 or Xbox One version.

A Chinese FPS set during the Second Sino-Japanese War. Instead of D-Day, you see the Japanese invasion through the eyes of Chinese resistance fighters: occupied villages, snowy forests, infiltration behind enemy lines, a minimal HUD and cinematic staging.

A word of caution: new studio, trailers that mix CGI and real gameplay. The Steam page only says "coming soon".

Release date: Q3 2027 — PC (source: Steam page, checked October 10, 2026).

AZUR is a PvP survival FPS from KADES Studio, a small indie team based in Marseille. It takes place on Belmas, a fictional Mediterranean island ravaged by a mysterious infection. The focus is pace: fights that keep coming, and loot you have to grab and get out safely.

Visually it recalls DayZ, with bunkers, an island map and dynamic events, but with a more arcade feel.

An extraction shooter set in a nightmarish parallel dimension. Squads fight in PvPvE against giant monsters in foggy environments, grabbing artifacts before extracting alive. Several classes, skill trees, and a strong SCP vibe.

It is Grey State Studio's first project in an already crowded genre: worth watching, with caution.

Release date: February 23, 2027 — PC, Xbox Series X|S, PS5 (source: Xbox / Playground Games, checked October 10, 2026).

Playground Games goes back to the series' roots: exploration, sword and magic combat, fantasy creatures and choices that shape your reputation. NPC relationships, romance, buying businesses, and the quirky humor the franchise is known for. Just don't expect deep combat.

Early Access starts February 18, 2027 with the Premium and Collector's Editions. It is also the first Fable on PlayStation. For PC players, we already have a best GPU for Fable guide.

If you loved BioShock, keep an eye on this one. Clockwork Revolution takes you to Avalon, a steampunk city where an elite manipulates time to rewrite history. You travel into the past, change events and watch the consequences ripple into the present.

Developed by inXile Entertainment and published by Xbox Game Studios. The Steam page lists 2027, with no exact day.

Release date: October 29, 2026 — PS5, PC (source: S-GAME, checked October 10, 2026).

In a Chinese wuxia world, you play Soul, an elite assassin framed for murder. It can look like a Souls-like, but it is really a fast action RPG where flow matters as much as difficulty: lightning-quick combos, parries and dodges.

Delayed: originally due September 9, 2026, S-GAME pushed it back 50 days to polish character models, environments and performance. In North America it unlocks on the evening of October 28, local time.

The first Atomic Heart sold well but had big flaws. Same wild Soviet retro-futurism, with a bigger world and more freedom: gunfights, powers and absurd weapons.

Mundfish has not given a date: the Steam page says "to be announced".

Digital Extremes, the team behind Warframe, goes the opposite way: no frantic sci-fi, but a calm, contemplative fantasy world with huge forests, mystical creatures and forgotten ruins. Combat stays technical: sword, shield, dodge, parry, magic.

There is no official release date yet; the Steam page says "coming soon".

Owlcat Games brings the grounded universe of The Expanse to an action RPG: you play a mercenary, recruit companions, manage your crew and make choices that shape the story, with firefights on space stations and planetary expeditions.

Saber Interactive (Space Marine 2, World War Z) is making a John Wick game: single-player action, aggressive Gun Fu mixing gunplay, close combat and combos. The story is set years before the films, inside the High Table universe.

For now, the Steam page for the still-untitled game only says "coming soon".

Release date: 2027 — PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2 (source: Capcom, checked October 10, 2026).

Capcom has nailed its remake formula, and Code: Veronica is next. Official name: Resident Evil Veronica. Claire Redfield, Rockfort Island, a reimagined story and the RE Engine.

Capcom confirms 2027, with no day or month announced yet.

A 3v1 asymmetric multiplayer game in the Saw universe. One player is the Judge, a kind of precursor to Jigsaw; the other three try to survive the traps. The twist: a World War I setting with trenches, steel and bayonets.

Dead by Daylight dominates this niche, but Saw has real potential. Steam page: "to be announced".

Release date: 2027 — PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S (source: Team Clout / Mundfish Powerhouse, checked October 10, 2026).

A first-person survival horror game with twisted creatures in an abandoned complex. It looks stunning: lighting, physics, and creatures that react to damage in real time and stay dangerous even when mutilated. Think Resident Evil meets Outlast, on Unreal Engine 5.

The studio is Team Clout (not "Team Cloud"), with Mundfish Powerhouse publishing. The June 2026 trailer confirmed a 2027 release, with no exact date.

Release date: January 15, 2027 — PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S (source: SEGA, checked October 10, 2026).

The Yakuza and Like a Dragon team is thinking big. You play Makoto Daito, a young man who leaves the United States in 1915 to start over in Japan, and the story spans several decades: pre-war Japan, the post-war years and the social and political upheavals in between.

RGG Studio is a master of storytelling, and Snoop Dogg is in the cast as Orpheus, Makoto's mentor. It will also be on Game Pass at launch.

A GTA-like set in Kabukicho, Tokyo's nightlife district, and the first game from Toshihiro Nagoshi, creator of Yakuza, since he left Sega.

Uncertain future: NetEase stopped funding Nagoshi Studio in May 2026, and several outlets report that the studio found no new backer. Neither NetEase nor the studio has officially announced a cancellation, but there is no date. It stays on the list with a big question mark.

Release date: 2027 — PC (source: Steam page, checked October 10, 2026).

The Martian invasion from The War of the Worlds, moved to late-19th-century Russia. A young student tries to survive while giant tripods tear through cities and countryside. Steam trains, snowy towns and tripods on the horizon make for a striking contrast.

The second Chinese game about the Sino-Japanese War on this list, with a different angle: a 14-year historical epic told through seven characters (soldiers, resistance fighters, civilians). Trailers mix CGI and gameplay.

Same warning as The Defiant: huge ambition, execution still to be proven. The Steam page says "to be announced".

Release date: 2027 — PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S (source: Krafton / Neon Giant, checked October 10, 2026).

Port Desire, a neon-soaked harbor city full of gangs and shady bars. You play Grey Harker, an ex-soldier trying to get back what was taken from him. Gunfights, stealth, dialogue choices and real open-world RPG systems.

Neon Giant (The Ascent) and Krafton (PUBG) are behind it. Its official name is NO LAW, and it is targeting 2027.

Release date: November 19, 2026 — PS5, Xbox Series X|S (source: Rockstar Games / Take-Two, checked October 10, 2026).

It gets its own section because it is in a league of its own. After two delays, Rockstar and Take-Two are sticking with November 19, 2026, a date reaffirmed at the August earnings call. Pre-loading opens November 12 for digital pre-orders.

These nine games replace the ones that have launched since the first version of this article. All of them have an official release date or window.

Release date: October 13, 2026 — PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S (source: One More Level / Steam, checked October 10, 2026).

One More Level (Ghostrunner) moves into first-person Souls-like territory, in a Napoleonic-era Europe overrun by horror. Demanding combat that mixes blades and firearms, and a cast that includes Vincent Cassel. It is on Game Pass from day one.

Release date: October 14, 2026 — PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S (source: Auroch Digital / Steam, checked October 10, 2026).

Auroch Digital is back with another Warhammer 40K boomer shooter: pixel art, overpowered weapons and a breakneck pace. Mick Gordon handles the soundtrack, and the main villain is Vashtorr. The Switch 2 version comes later.

Release date: October 15, 2026 — PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S (source: Konami, checked October 10, 2026).

Konami revives Castlevania with an all-new exploration-based 2D action game, co-developed with Evil Empire (the studio that ran Dead Cells' updates) and with Motion Twin advising. You play Rose Belmont, Trevor's daughter, in 1499 Paris, from the catacombs to Dracula's castle, Vampire Killer whip in hand.

A Switch version is announced, but its date will come later. We don't have a dedicated PC settings guide yet; we will update this list after launch.

Release date: November 10, 2026 — PC, Mac, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, mobile (Netflix) (source: SEGA / Sports Interactive, checked October 10, 2026).

Sports Interactive returns with Football Manager 27, launching the same day on PC, Mac, consoles and mobile via Netflix.

Release date: January 15, 2027 — PC, PS5, iOS, Android (source: NetEase, checked October 10, 2026).

A free-to-play urban open-world RPG set in a modern, China-inspired city called Chongxiao. Ananta launches the same day on PC, PS5 and mobile, and pre-registration is already open.

Release date: April 7, 2027 — PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S (source: Archetype Entertainment, checked October 10, 2026).

The debut game from Archetype Entertainment, a Wizards of the Coast studio led by BioWare veterans. A single-player, third-person action RPG with companions, narrative choices and a strong hook: time dilation from interstellar travel. The date was announced at Gamescom 2026.

Release date: April 8, 2027 — PS5, Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, PC (source: Square Enix, checked October 10, 2026).

The final chapter of the Final Fantasy VII remake project, after Remake and Rebirth. Square Enix announced the date on September 3, 2026, with a simultaneous launch on every platform, PC included.

Release date: late 2027 — PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Switch 2 (source: Square Enix, checked October 10, 2026).

Announced in 2022, Kingdom Hearts IV finally has a release window: late 2027, revealed at D23 in August 2026 alongside a new Coco-inspired world. The team says it will not slip past that window.

Release date: 2027 — PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2 (source: CD Projekt RED, checked October 10, 2026).

A new expansion for The Witcher 3, developed by CD Projekt RED with Fool's Theory. It is not The Witcher 4, but it is Geralt's return, planned for 2027 with no exact date yet.

Released July 9, 2026 — PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S (source: Ubisoft).

The Black Flag remake, officially titled Black Flag Resynced. Pirates, naval battles and exploration: old-school Assassin's Creed, brought up to date. Everything you need is in our Black Flag Resynced guide.

Released July 28, 2026 — PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S (source: Xbox / Halo Studios).

A full remake of the original Halo campaign, and the very first Halo on PlayStation. Our verdict is in the Halo: Campaign Evolved review.

In Early Access since August 25, 2026 — PC (source: Panache Digital Games).

Patrice Désilets, the original creator of Assassin's Creed, has finally launched his project: 17th-century Amsterdam, witchcraft and witch hunts. It is in Early Access, with a first campaign section of about 15 hours, and still evolving.

Released September 3, 2026 — PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S (source: Bandai Namco / Rebel Wolves).

The first game from Rebel Wolves, founded by CD Projekt RED veterans: a dark fantasy open-world RPG where Coen, half human and half vampire, gains different abilities by day and by night. It sold over a million copies in two days. On PC, follow our Blood of Dawnwalker best graphics settings guide.

Released September 8, 2026 — PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S (source: IllFonic).

IllFonic's asymmetric multiplayer game: one player is Michael Myers, the others survive by searching houses and alerting the neighbors. The open question is how long a single-franchise game can last.

In Early Access since September 10, 2026 — PC (source: Bulkhead).

Bulkhead's (Battalion 1944) 100-player tactical FPS launched in Steam Early Access. The launch was massive, with long server queues in the first days. Console versions are announced for later.

Released September 24, 2026 — PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S (source: Remedy).

Remedy's Control sequel, officially titled CONTROL Resonant: a warped Manhattan where reality breaks apart, a shape-shifting weapon and faster close-quarters combat.

Released October 6, 2026 — PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S (source: Fuse Games).

Star Wars arcade racing returns, from Fuse Games, a studio founded by Burnout and Need for Speed veterans. Story mode, multiplayer and vehicle customization.

Released October 6, 2026 — PC, Xbox Series X|S (source: Xbox / The Coalition).

Gears goes back to its origins: the day the Locust emerged. Younger Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago, and the dark tone of the early games. Early Access started October 1 with the Premium Edition. On PC it is very demanding: here is our Gears of War: E-Day benchmark and PC build.

GTA 6, unsurprisingly, still set for November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series. Behind it, the most followed releases are Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 (October 23, 2026), Fable (February 23, 2027), Metro 2039 (February 4, 2027) and Final Fantasy VII Revelation (April 8, 2027).

On PC: Valor Mortis (October 13), Boltgun 2 (October 14), Castlevania: Belmont's Curse (October 15), CoD Modern Warfare 4 (October 23), Phantom Blade Zero (October 29) and Football Manager 27 (November 10). GTA 6 has no announced PC version.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, Halo: Campaign Evolved, 1666: Amsterdam (Early Access), The Blood of Dawnwalker, Halloween: The Game, WARDOGS (Early Access), CONTROL Resonant, Star Wars: Galactic Racer, Gears of War: E-Day and Hellraiser: Revival. Their dates are in the "Already released" section.

Phantom Blade Zero moved from September 9 to October 29, 2026. Gang of Dragon has had no funding since May 2026 and has no date.

Gang of Dragon (funding pulled), plus projects from emerging studios like The Defiant, 14 Years of Flame and Rules of Engagement. The trailers are impressive but often mix CGI and gameplay.

GTA 6 is PS5 and Xbox Series only for now. Phantom Blade Zero launches on PS5 and PC with no Xbox version announced. On the other hand, Fable is also coming to PS5, a first for the series.

2026-2027 is shaping up as one of the busiest stretches in gaming history. Between returning franchises, ambitious new studios and GTA 6 looming over everything, you will have to choose. We keep this list updated as announcements come in.
