2026-2027, the gaming tsunami we've been waiting for

More than 30 games. Not small forgotten projects on Steam for 4.99 €. No. monsters , iconic licenses brought back to life, emerging studios arriving with crazy ambitions. And all this concentrated in just 18 months.

One could believe that GTA 6 was going to suck everything in, that other publishers were going to flee and push back their release dates like rabbits in front of a truck. Except that's not the case. It's actually the opposite: everyone is going for it. FPS, RPG, horror, open world, co-op, extraction shooter, Star Wars pod racing... there is something for all tastes and especially for all wallets. Get yours ready, it's going to sting.

What is really interesting about this wave is the diversity. We have classic triple A, yes. But also studios that have just opened their doors, founded by veterans who were tired of working for the big ones. The market is moving, games are changing, and frankly it's refreshing.

We have prepared the complete list for you, sorted by category, with the known dates and what to remember about each game. Let's get started.

The FPS and shooters that will make noise

Ward Dogs — The Battlefield we deserve

Ward Dogs, it's my favorite pick from this selection. A large-scale tactical FPS that pits 100 players divided into three teams on a map of 256 km². If you enjoyed Battlefield and Arma's King of the Hill mode but find the latter a bit too hardcore, it's exactly the perfect compromise.

The concept: you fight to control a strategic area. Each action useful to your team — capture, revive, transport — earns you cash that you reinvest in weapons, skills, or vehicles. Helicopters, trucks, collapsing buildings, fortified positions. It's Bulkhead Studio behind it, the ones from Battalion 1944. The project is ambitious, it just needs to hold up technically. Planned 2026 on PC , already on Steam wishlist.

Metro 2039 — The return to the tunnels

Almost 8 years after Metro Exodus, 4A Games plunges us back into the Moscow metro. No more Russian wastelands, we return to the dark and creepy tunnels that have defined the series. We play as Stranger, a guy haunted by his nightmares who must go back underground as a faction called the New Reich has taken control.

The tone is set: fascist control, survival, infiltration, horror. A bit like Wolfenstein, but with the Metro atmosphere. Visually, Exodus was already a slap in the face. Now, it promises to go even heavier. Planned release February 2027 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 — The true return to the roots

The latest CoDs clearly didn't hook me. But MW4, it's Infinity Ward at the helm and the promise of a real sequel to the 2019 MW, the one that had sent everything. This time heading to the Korean peninsula, Price and Ghost are back, darker and more serious than recent Black Ops.

Good news for competitive gamers: the bloom releases This system that made the bullets go anywhere even when you controlled your spray - finally over. The DMZ mode returns in a reworked version, a mix of battle royale / extraction shooter. Release October 23, 2026 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series, and Switch 2.

The Defiant — World War II seen from China

A Chinese FPS on the Sino-Japanese war. We finally leave the D-Day and the beaches of Normandy to discover the Japanese invasion through the eyes of Chinese resistance fighters. Occupied villages, snowy forests, infiltrations behind enemy lines. Discreet interface, no compass, cinematic staging. It smells like the old Medal of Honor.

Attention though: emerging studio, trailers that mix CGI and real gameplay. It's the promise of a game, not yet the proof. But the historical setting is exciting. 2027 on PC , available on Steam wishlist.

Azure - The French gem

Cock-a-doodle-doo. Azure, it's a French extraction shooter that takes place on the island of Belmass, a Mediterranean paradise ravaged by a mysterious infection. The difference with the other extraction shooters? The rhythm. The CAD Studio devs have removed everything that slows down the action. No looting for 40 minutes just to get shot in the back. Here it's arcade, fast-paced, a series of confrontations. You collect your loot, send it by helicopter, and start over.

Visually, it reminds me of DayZ with bunkers, the island, dynamic events — but in a fun version. Planned Q3 2027 on PC We wish them the best.

Rules of Engagement: The Grey State — Horror Extraction

A shooter extraction in a nightmarish parallel dimension. Squads in PvPvE against gigantic monsters, misty environments, artifacts to retrieve before extracting alive. Several classes, skill trees. The SCP atmosphere fits well, but extraction shooters are starting to saturate the market. Keep an eye on it if you're into the genre. Available in Steam wishlist , unknown studio, first project — caution.

RPG and action-adventure: the choice of kings

The Blood of Dawnwalker — The next Witcher?

Developed by several former CD Projekt RED employees, Blood of Dawnwalker plunges us into a dark medieval Europe where vampires have taken power. We embody Cohen, a vespertine — half-human, half-vampire — whose abilities change depending on the time of day. During the day, you rely on your human skills. At night, supernatural powers kick in.

The story unfolds over a limited period: each decision, each quest completed or ignored moves the world towards an outcome that depends on your choices. And when we look at the gameplay, we clearly find The Witcher's DNA - combat system, settings, artistic direction. Release September 3, 2026 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series. It's in less than two months.

Fable — The return of the king after 15 years

Fable had a chaotic journey. A canceled episode (which I played, and it was tough), years of silence. But now, Playground Games is going back to its roots: RPG, exploration, sword/magic combat, fantastic creatures, and choices that influence your reputation. The kingdom of Albion looks splendid.

The RPG side is extremely advanced: relationships with NPCs, romance, buying businesses, developing your influence. With the offbeat humor that has always been the strength of the franchise. However, the combat... you don't play Fable for the combat. It's not Witcher, and it never will be. February 23, 2027 on PC, Xbox Series, and PS5. PlayStation players will be able to taste Fable for the first time.

Control 2: Resonant — Manhattan falls apart

Remedy Entertainment drops the Federal Control Bureau for a distorted Manhattan where reality is disintegrating. Gravitational anomalies, Inception-like buildings, paranormal creatures. And on the gameplay side, big change: goodbye to the first gun. Make way for the Abrunent, a weapon that changes shape in real time, plus some very intense close combat.

It smells like Souls-like at times, even if it's not announced as such. Remedy, it's still the guys from Alan Wake, Max Payne, Control — games with a real identity. September 24, 2026 on PC, Mac, Xbox, and PS5.

Clockwork Revolution — BioShock in steampunk

If you loved BioShock, take a good look. Clockwork Revolution sends us to Avalon, a steampunk metropolis where an elite manipulates time to rewrite history. You can travel to the past, change events, and observe the consequences on the present. Visually and in mechanics, it changes everything. Nervous shootouts, crazy gadgets, special powers, RPG dimension.

It's not the most graphically impressive game, and the gameplay has a bit of an old-school feel. But honestly, who cares. The time-travel mechanics and the universe matter more than native 4K. inXile Entertainment and Xbox Game Studios behind. Date to be confirmed , some reported delays.

1666 Amsterdam - Assassin's Creed by its creator

Patrice Désilets, the original creator of Assassin's Creed, has been working on 1666 Amsterdam for over 15 years. 17th century Amsterdam, witchcraft, occult forces, witch hunt. You play as Noah, a woman accused of witchcraft, accompanied by Iron, a mysterious cat that you can control to sneak into inaccessible areas.

The atmosphere looks unique: canals in the fog, demonic creatures, gothic Amsterdam. A more mature and dark Assassin's Creed-like. But the development has been chaotic — THQ bankruptcy, rights changing hands. No big publisher behind it, so it's risky. Early access expected late 2026 on PC We cross our fingers.

Phantom Blade Zero — The wuxia action RPG

In a Chinese wuxia universe, we embody Saul, an elite assassin wrongly accused of murder. Visually, it may evoke Souls-like, but it is rather a fast-paced action RPG where combat fluidity matters as much as difficulty. Ultra-fast combos, parries, dodges - each confrontation feels like a martial arts movie choreography. October 28, 2026 on PS5 and PC.

Atomic Heart 2 — The sequel that must fix everything

The first Atomic Heart sold very well but had major weaknesses. The advantage of the second installment: the resources, the experience, and — hopefully — the finishing. Same completely crazy Soviet retro-futuristic recipe, but with a larger world and more freedom. FPS RPG with shootouts, powers, and improbable weapons. Date to be confirmed , available on Steam wishlist. If the studio learns from its mistakes, it could be great.

SoulFrame — The counterpoint of Warframe

Digital Extremes, the creators of Warframe, take a completely different approach: goodbye to the frantic pace and sci-fi. SoulFrame is a calm, mysterious, contemplative fantasy world. Vast forests, mystical creatures, forgotten ruins. The battles remain technical — sword, shield, dodge, parry, magic — with a slight Souls-like aspect. Warframe is a legend, but too niche. SoulFrame could change that. Hoped for 2026 on PC , Steam wishlist.

The Expanse: Osiris Reborn — The new Mass Effect?

For fans of The Expanse (the series, the books), this is the dream: a space RPG in this realistic universe. You play as a mercenary, recruit companions, manage your crew, make choices that influence the story. Shootouts in space stations, expeditions on different planets, narrative moments aboard the ship. Q2 2027 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series.

The iconic licenses arriving in gaming

John Wick - Gun Fu in video games

Saber Interactive — those from Space Marine 2 and World War Z — take on John Wick. Solo action, ultra-aggressive Gun Fu, a mix of gun fight / hand-to-hand combat / spectacular combos. The adventure takes place several years before the films, with an original story in the world of the High Table. Keanu Reeves and Chad Stahelski are directly involved.

For now, just a 2-minute trailer. But given the quality of Space Marine 2, the potential is enormous. 2027 likely on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series. Steam page already available.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer — Pod races are back

The return of the Star Wars racing game that marked the 2000s. Behind the project, developers from Burnout and Need for Speed - and it shows in the spectacular approach to races, crashes, collisions. Story mode, multiplayer, vehicle customization, free roaming. We embody a pilot seeking revenge in the Galactic League, an underground championship.

It's arcade, nervous, not simulation. The risk: will it hold up over time? Fuse Games and Secret Mode behind. October 6, 2026 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series.

Gears of War: E-Day — Emergence Day finally playable

We go back to the origins: the day when the Locust emerged from the depths to attack humanity. Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago younger, in civilian clothes, in the streets during a full-scale invasion. The dark atmosphere of the early games is back — gothic architecture, civilians trapped, total chaos.

On the gameplay side: cover-based combat, oversized weapons, brutal executions. Multiplayer is also back — versus, Horde, all with modernized controls. It's The Coalition developing, Xbox Game Studios publishing. October 6, 2026 on PC and Xbox Series No PlayStation this time, Microsoft exclusive.

Resident Evil Code: Veronica (remake) — The guaranteed banger

Capcom has found the secret recipe with its remakes, and they are not letting go. After RE2, RE4, it's Code: Veronica's turn. Claire Redfield, Rockfort Island, seen in TPS like the recent remakes. We know the formula, we know it works, it's almost guaranteed success. Just... Capcom, if you're reading this: stop the endless puzzles. Please. 2027 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series, and Switch 2.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag (remake)

My favorite AC, updated with current technologies. Pirates, naval battles, exploration. Has it already been released by the time you read this? Possible. In any case, an AC from the old school with the right gameplay, that's all we ask for. PC, PS5, and Xbox Series.

Halo: Campaign Evolved — The remake of the first

The complete remake of the first Halo, the one that popularized FPS on console. Visually stunning, but I have a big doubt: are they going to transform the cinematics into CGI instead of letting us experience them in-game? Because nothing beats being in the middle of the action. July 28, 2026 — it's now — on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. First Halo on PlayStation, by the way.

Horror and asymmetric multiplayer

Saw: Genesis — The Dead by Daylight of Jigsaw

Asymmetric multiplayer 3 versus 1 in the Saw universe. One player is the Judge, a kind of precursor to Jigsaw, the other three try to survive his traps. Crushed jaws, amputations, impossible choices. The twist: World War I atmosphere. Metal, trenches, blood, bayonets. It strangely fits well.

Dead by Daylight dominates this niche, but the Saw universe has enormous potential if executed well. Cult licenses are finally starting to understand that video games are a playground in themselves. Date to be confirmed , Steam wishlist.

Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival — The Cenobites Return

The video game adaptation of the Hellraiser franchise. The first images are unequivocal: dismembered bodies, chains, nightmarish creatures, unhealthy settings. Gameplay similar to Resident Evil with a Hellraiser twist - the cube, the powers, the gates of hell. You will have to save your girlfriend from the hands of the Cenobites. Exploration, puzzles, hand-to-hand combat, and shootouts. October 8, 2026 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series.

Halloween: The Game — Michael Myers in multiplayer

More asymmetric multiplayer: one player is Michael Myers, the others survive by searching houses and trying to alert the inhabitants. The problem? Dead by Daylight already has Michael Myers as a guest. And Friday the 13th showed that a single universe quickly runs out of steam - servers closed after a few years.

The potential advantage: a more cinematic and visual experience than DbD. But the long term will be complicated with only one universe. September 8, 2026 on PC It will sell well at launch, the question is afterwards.

The mystery project of Team Cloud — Too good to be true?

A survival horror with deformed creatures in an abandoned industrial complex. Visually, it's a slap in the face. The lights, the physics, the ragdolls - the creatures react to damage in real time, change behavior, remain dangerous even when mutilated. A mix of Resident Evil and Outlast.

The problem: Team Cloud, no one knows them. Their trailers are full of CGI, no real in-engine gameplay. What they show is better than Resident Evil , while Capcom is a giant with colossal means. Talent or not, resources are also needed. I want to believe in it, but a little star of caution. Unknown date .

The new horizons: emerging studios and unexplored universes

Stranger Evenent (RGG Studio) — Japan from 1915 to 1960

The maestros of Yakuza and Like a Dragon see things on a very large scale. We embody Makoto Daito, a young American-Japanese mixed-race who leaves the United States in 1915 to start a new life in Japan. The particularity: we travel through the ages over 50 years , from the 1910s to the 1960s. Japan before the war, after World War II, social and political upheavals.

RGG Studio masters the scenario like no one else. And the cast includes Snoop Dogg and Takeshi Kitano. Yes, it's Japan, yes it's what the fuck, but that's why we love them. January 15, 2027 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series. Right in the GTA 6 wave.

Gang of Dragon — The Japanese GTA in danger

A GTA-like in Kabukicho, the hot district of Tokyo. Hand-to-hand combat, shootouts, chases in the streets of Tokyo. This is Toshihiro Nagoshi's first game since leaving Sega — the creator of Yakuza, no less.

The big problem: after the funding was stopped by NetEase, the future of the game is uncertain. Some media outlets mention a possible cancellation. The project was advanced, but money is needed. We keep our fingers crossed that an investor will take over. Unknown date , Steam page available. Add it to your wishlist, it helps developers find funding.

War of the Worlds: Siberia — H.G. Wells in Russia

The Martian invasion of The War of the Worlds, but in Russia at the end of the 19th century. A young student trying to survive while giant tripods ravage cities and countryside. The contrast between Russian steampunk technology and Martian machines looks incredible. Steam trains, snowy cities, gothic architecture, and tripods on the horizon. 2027 on PC , Steam wishlist.

14 Years of Flame — The Sino-Japanese Fresco

Second Chinese game on the Sino-Japanese War in this list, but with a different approach. Where The Defiant focuses on action, 14 Years of Flame tells a historical fresco over 14 years through seven different characters — soldiers, resistance fighters, civilians. You can feel the Battlefield inspiration in some shots, and the trailers mix CGI and gameplay. Same warning as for The Defiant: huge ambition, execution to prove. 2027 on PC .

Noow - The independent Cyberpunk 2077

Port Désir, a neon-saturated port city full of gangs and shady bars. You play as Grey Arker, a former soldier trying to get back what was stolen from him. Shootouts, infiltration, dialogue choices, strong RPG elements. Visually, it looks a lot like Cyberpunk. Some sequences also bring to mind Max Payne in terms of intensity.

Neon Giant and Krafton (the people behind PUBG) are behind. Their latest game, The Ascent, was very good but in a top-down view. Here, it's a big step towards FPS. Date to be confirmed, PC In Steam wishlist.

GTA 6 — The final boss

It is set apart because it is apart. GTA 6, it's the game that everyone will buy, period. No need to convince you. No need to pitch you. November 19, 2026 , and everything we've seen so far — the trailers, the rumors, the leaks — all point to something absolutely crazy.

The real issue is the impact on the rest of the industry. GTA 6 is going to be a tidal wave. But contrary to what we thought, other publishers have not fled. Some even said that the GTA wave would attract so many people to gaming that there would be repercussions for everyone. We'll see if the bet pays off.

FAQ - What to remember

What is the most anticipated game of 2026-2027?

GTA 6, unsurprisingly, with its release on November 19, 2026. But apart from this behemoth, The Blood of Dawnwalker (September 3, 2026) and Fable (February 23, 2027) are among the most anticipated titles by the community.

Will GTA 6 kill the sales of other games?

This is the big question. For now, publishers have not fled. Some are even betting on the opposite effect: GTA 6 will attract so many players that the benefits will be felt by everyone. History will tell us who was right.

What are the riskiest games on this list?

Gang of Dragon (uncertain funding), 1666 Amsterdam (chaotic development for 15 years), and projects from emerging Chinese studios like The Defiant and 14 Years of Flame. The trailers are impressive but full of CGI. Caution.

Are there any exclusivities in the batch?

Gears of War: E-Day is exclusive to PC/Xbox. Many indie and emerging projects are exclusive to PC for now. Fable will also be on PS5 this time, unlike previous episodes.

What games should I test first if I have a limited budget?

On the safe bets: Blood of Dawnwalker, Control 2: Resonant, and Resident Evil Veronica. The three studios have proven themselves. For FPS enthusiasts: Metro 2039 and CoD MW4. And if you have an Xbox, Gears of War E-Day is a must-have.

The period 2026-2027 is shaping up to be one of the busiest in the history of video games. Between the cult licenses making a comeback, the new studios arriving with ambitious plans, and GTA 6 looming above everything, choices will have to be made. Your wallet won't survive it all. But at least you'll have plenty to choose from.
