The GPU market in summer 2026: where we stand

June 2026. Nvidia has released its entire RTX 50 range — from the 5050 to the monstrous 5090 — and AMD has responded with the RX 9000 series based on RDNA 4. The prices? It remains tense. The RTX 5090 is close to €2,500 in the official European price (and it is rarely found below €3,000 in reality), the RTX 5080 is around €1,600 in stores, and even the mid-range has taken a hit compared to the previous generation.

But there is still some good news. AMD's competition is pushing prices down in the 400-800€ segment, Intel is keeping its Arc B580 as an ultra-budget option, and stocks have largely stabilized since the chaos at the beginning of the year. In short, it's a good time to take stock of what is really worth it — according to your budget and your target resolution.

We're not going to give you a ranking of 15 cards where you end up more lost than before. We're getting straight to the point: by price range, which card to buy in June 2026.

Top-of-the-line without compromise: RTX 5090 and RTX 5080

RTX 5090 — the card for those who do not look at the price

2 349€ European MSRP. In practice, more like 3 000 to 4 000€ depending on custom models. Yes, it's absurd. But it's also the fastest graphics card on the mainstream market, by far.

32GB of GDDR7, Blackwell architecture, DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation... the 5090 crushes everything that exists in native 4K. We're talking about 80-100 FPS in 4K Ultra on games like Cyberpunk 2077, where the previous generation struggled at 50. With DLSS enabled, it goes beyond 140 FPS. It's insane.

The problem, you guessed it: the price. At over 3,000€, it's reserved for enthusiasts with an unlimited budget or for creators who need the VRAM to work. For 95% of players, move on.

RTX 5080 — the true "reasonable" high-end

MSRP 1 179€, price observed around 1 600-2 000€ at LDLC, Materiel.net and company. It's expensive, yes. But if you play in 4K and want serious ray tracing, this is the card to aim for.

16GB of GDDR7, very solid 4K performance — not far from 70-80% of the 5090's performance for half the price. DLSS 4 works as well as above, and you have access to the entire CUDA stack if you do 3D rendering or AI alongside.

My opinion? If you're aiming for 4K Ultra with ray tracing, this is the high-end sweet spot. The 5090 brings 20-30% more performance for double the price — the calculation is quickly done.

The sweet spot: RTX 5070 Ti and RX 9070 XT

This is where it gets interesting for the majority of players. The 800-900€ segment in 2026 is the new "high mid-range" - and the two dominant cards are excellent.

RTX 5070 Ti — the versatile

MSRP 884€, actual price around 900-1 050€ . 16 GB GDDR7, Blackwell. This is the card that most guides (Tom's Hardware, Les Numériques, Frandroid) rank as number 1 for performance/price ratio for 1440p and accessible 4K.

At 1440p Ultra, you are comfortable with all current games — 100+ FPS in most cases. At 4K, it runs smoothly with DLSS, around 60-80 FPS depending on the titles. Nvidia's ray tracing remains superior to AMD, and DLSS 4 makes a real difference in games that support it.

If you have a 1440p 165 Hz screen and you want to be worry-free for 3-4 years, this is probably the best choice.

RX 9070 XT - the best value for money in the segment

Price observed around 814-840€ . 16GB GDDR6. RDNA 4 architecture. AMD clearly targeted Nvidia in this segment, and it shows.

In pure rasterization - without ray tracing - the 9070 XT holds its own against the 5070 Ti, sometimes even ahead. The gap widens in ray tracing, where Nvidia maintains a clear advantage, and in upscaling where DLSS 4 remains superior to FSR 4. But we're talking about 50-80€ less, so if ray tracing isn't your priority, the 9070 XT is clearly the best deal.

Attention, however: AMD drivers still have occasional issues on certain titles. Nothing dramatic, but it's something to keep in mind if you want perfect plug-and-play.

The mid-range: RTX 5070, RX 9070, and RTX 5060 Ti

RTX 5070 - 12GB, a tough choice

Observed price 630-700€ on average. On paper, a good 1440p card. In practice, the problem is its 12GB of VRAM. In 2026, several games are already hitting the 12GB mark in 1440p Ultra - it's going to become a real bottleneck in a year or two.

Raw performance is good, no problem. But at 650€ for 12GB when the 9070 XT offers 16GB for 150€ more... The ratio is debatable. If you strictly stay in 1440p Medium/High, it's fine. If you want Ultra or occasional 4K, it's better to go up a notch.

RX 9070 - the discreet little brother

Around 650-700€ . 16GB. Slightly below the 9070 XT (about 10-15%), but with the same 16GB of VRAM. Compared to the RTX 5070, the VRAM advantage is clear. Compared to the 9070 XT, the price difference is not always sufficient to justify downgrading.

In short, it's a good card, but it's stuck between two more logical options. If you find it for under 620€, go for it. Above that, you might as well aim for the XT.

RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB - Nvidia's Full HD++

The official price was supposed to be around 450€, but in practice you rarely find it below 550-630€ in French stores. Some models even go up to €740 at TopAchat or Materiel.net. At this price, it stings.

On the performance side, it's a very comfortable 1080p Ultra / 1440p High card, with DLSS 4 and 16GB. The concern is the French pricing: at €600, you are too close to the RTX 5070 and the RX 9070 which perform better. Wait for a price drop or an Amazon promotion to make it interesting again.

The budget: RX 9060 XT and Intel Arc B580

Setup gaming PC avec carte graphique été 2026 Click to enlarge

RX 9060 XT 16GB - the queen of value for money

440-510€ . This is the card that Frandroid, Ginjfo, and many guides place as the best overall choice in 2026 if your budget is limited. 16GB of GDDR6 VRAM — yes, 16GB at this price — and solid performance in 1080p Ultra and 1440p High.

It targets 1440p 144 Hz screens successfully in most games, and some tests even show potential in 1440p 240 Hz on esport titles. Ray tracing is behind Nvidia, but at this price, it's not really the main criterion.

It's simple: if you build a gaming PC in 2026 with a total budget of 1,000-1,300€, this is the card you need.

Intel Arc B580 - the ultra-budget choice

Around 280-350€ . Intel is still in the race despite the cancellation of Arc Celestial, and the B580 remains a viable option if you're looking for decent 1080p without breaking the bank.

Let's not lie: Intel drivers have come a long way since the catastrophic launch of the A series, but they are still below Nvidia and AMD in terms of stability. Some games have compatibility issues, others run very well. It's a lottery.

If you find it around €280, it's a real bargain for 1080p Medium/High. Above €330, the gap with the RX 9060 XT starts to narrow, and there, it's worth putting €100 more for the jump in performance and reliability.

Our tips for smart shopping this summer

A few things to keep in mind before pulling out the credit card:

  • 16 GB minimum in 2026. Recent games like Crimson Desert, Star Wars Outlaws, and the first UE5.5 titles are starting to hit 12 GB at 1440p. If you're buying to last 3+ years, aim for 16 GB.
  • Compare prices on leDénicheur and Idealo. The price differences between LDLC, Amazon.fr, TopAchat, and Alternate can exceed €100 on the same card. It's worth spending 5 minutes looking for it.
  • The Founders Edition (Nvidia) are often cheaper that customs, but harder to find in stock. If you see a FE at MSRP, don't hesitate.
  • Wait for the summer sales. Amazon Prime Day (July), French Days... GPUs go on sale during these periods. If you're not in a hurry, waiting 2-3 weeks can save you 50-100€.
  • The second-hand market is full of RTX 4080 Super and RX 7900 XTX at interesting prices. A used 4080 Super for 600-700€, it's excellent for 1440p/4K for much less than new.

And if you still hesitate between two cards, ask yourself: What screen do I have? A 1080p 144 Hz doesn't need an RTX 5070 Ti. A 4K 120 Hz doesn't need an Arc B580. The screen dictates the GPU, not the other way around.

FAQ

What is the best graphics card in the summer of 2026?

The RTX 5070 Ti for versatility 1440p/4K, the RX 9060 XT for the best value for money. It really depends on your budget and resolution.

Do 12 GB of VRAM still suffice in 2026?

For 1080p, yes. For 1440p Ultra on the latest games, it's starting to be tight. In 4K, it's clearly insufficient. Aim for 16GB if you're buying for the long term.

Nvidia or AMD in 2026, who to choose?

Nvidia dominates in ray tracing and upscaling (DLSS 4 vs FSR 4). AMD is more aggressive on prices in pure rasterization. If ray tracing is important to you, Nvidia. If you want the maximum FPS per euro spent, AMD.

Is it worth waiting for the next generation?

The RTX 60 and RX 10000 are not expected before mid-2027 at the earliest. If you need a GPU now, buy now. Waiting a year for a hypothetical 15% drop is a year without playing properly.

Is the Intel Arc B580 reliable?

The drivers have improved a lot, but there are still occasional issues with certain games. If you want perfect plug-and-play, Nvidia or AMD are safer choices. If you are willing to tinker sometimes, the B580 is a good deal at 280€.

What card for a €1,000 gaming PC?

The RX 9060 XT 16GB at ~€450 leaves you with ~€550 for the rest (Ryzen 5 9600X, 32GB DDR5, 1TB SSD). It's a solid 1440p setup without breaking the bank.
