Behind the forecasts and market rumors, several factors converge towards the same focal point:
Towards an increase in GPU prices in 2026? The market is heating up (but nothing massive for now)
You see the price charts of cards like the ASUS ROG Astral RTX5080, the ASUS PRIME RTX 5060 Ti, or the Sapphire RX 9070XT: they do not show an explosion in prices starting from 2026. Prices fluctuate, but there is nothing resembling a general surge at the beginning of this year. It is important to say this right away because many rumors are talking about a massive increase... but for now, it is not visible in the actual market.
Why is everyone talking about a GPU price increase?
1. Memory shortage (RAM / GDDR)
Since the end of 2024, a global memory supply crisis (DRAM / GDDR) has emerged, driven by the very high demand from AI infrastructures and data centers. This situation reduces the availability of memory modules also used in gaming GPUs. When raw materials cost more, manufacturers and assemblers have two choices: absorb the cost or pass it on to the selling price. Many reports indicate that a price impact is very likely in 2026. We talk about it in our very detailed analysis .
2. Potential production reduction
According to several sources, Nvidia would be considering reduce the production of its GeForce RTX 50-series GPUs by up to 30-40% in early 2026 , precisely because memory is lacking and priorities are shifting towards higher-margin products (e.g. GPU for AI).
➡️ Less supply + stable demand = pressure on prices if volumes do not follow .
3. Information from supply chains
Some insider reports and specialized websites mention that AMD has already informed its partners of an increase of around 10% in the prices of its GPUs at the beginning of 2026. , and that Nvidia could follow later.
⚠️ This remains primarily supply chain information... not yet an official public announcement.
4. The current prices do not yet reflect an overall increase
Even if some models (especially the very high-end ones like the RTX 5090 at certain retailers) are selling at much higher prices than MSRP at the beginning of the year, it seems more like a parallel market effect than a price increase confirmed by the manufacturers themselves. In short: what it looks like in January 2026
- ✔️ The macro indicators (memory shortage, AI pressure, reduced production) point towards a plausible increase in prices in 2026 .
- But at the present time no significant or widespread increase observed in retail prices for all graphics cards.
- 📌 Some high-end models may already be expensive in Europe, but it remains more of a supply/demand effect than a clear pricing policy set by NVIDIA/AMD.
What to watch for in the coming months
- Official announcements from Nvidia / AMD regarding MSRP pricing.
- Evolution of memory price (DRAM / GDDR).
- Stocks available in stores (scarcity will inevitably turn into an upward movement).
- The prices of the "mid-range" versions (5060 / 5070 / 3070 / 4070...): if they rise, then we can really talk about a global trend.
Tips if you want to buy now
If you plan to upgrade in 2026, this may be the best time to grab a GPU at a "normal" price before any potential increases spread. Also keep an eye on dynamic stocks: cards like the RTX 5060 Ti or the RX 9070XT could become scarce if production chains tighten. You can do this directly through our price comparison tool:
