Before looking at the models, you need to understand what needs to be mastered:
- Performance (FPS) : obviously, the number of images per second that the card will be able to deliver depending on the resolution and settings (Ultra, medium, etc.).
- Video memory (VRAM) : in 2026, 8 GB becomes limited for 1440p / high textures, 16 GB is a good compromise, 24–32 GB for extreme uses or 4K.
- Type & memory bandwidth : GDDR6, GDDR7, memory bus (128 bits, 256 bits, etc.).
- Ray tracing, AI cores / Tensor / upscaling hardware if you want quality ray tracing, or to take advantage of DLSS/FSR, some GPUs are more advantageous.
- Consumption & TDP / cooling : a good graphics card, it heats up - you need a power supply that can handle it, suitable ventilation.
- Compatibility & dimensions : check that your card fits in the case, that the motherboard accepts the PCIe, etc.
- Performance / price ratio : that's what makes the difference — we want the GPU that "gives the best for what you pay".
When you want a "best graphics card" , it is not necessarily the most powerful: it is the one that best fits your usage and budget .
