Ryzen 5 7500 vs 7500F: the price trap

The Ryzen 5 7500 has just appeared in the AMD catalog, and frankly, we have a hard time understanding the pricing logic behind it. On paper, it’s a 7500F with a small integrated graphics chip in addition . Nothing else changes. The problem is its mentioned price: around €230, compared to about €120 for the 7500F in France. Almost double for an iGPU that won't run any recent games. We'll see what this graphics chip really changes before pulling out the wallet.

A Ryzen 5 7500 launched without fanfare

AMD added the Ryzen 5 7500 to its catalog on September 10, 2026, without a conference or major announcement. The official sheet confirms a Zen 4 processor for AM5 socket, with 6 cores, 12 threads, a base frequency of 3.7 GHz, and a maximum boost of 5 GHz. In other words, it features exactly the same core as the Ryzen 5 7500F sold since 2023.

The difference lies in a letter. At AMD, the suffix F indicates that the integrated graphics part is disabled . The new 7500 therefore incorporates the small Radeon Graphics found in the other Ryzen 7000 "Raphael". This is not a gaming-oriented APU: AMD assigns it only 2 RDNA 2 compute units at 2.2 GHz.

AMD announces worldwide availability and provides a Wraith Stealth cooler with the boxed version. However, the manufacturer has not communicated any public price. Before the launch, Roland Quandt mentioned around €230. Two days after the addition to the catalog, no sufficiently solid French offer yet allows to confirm this price. One might say that we are still navigating a bit blindly on this specific point.

Ryzen 5 7500 vs 7500F : the specifications are almost identical

The two processors use the same Zen 4 architecture, the same AM5 socket and the same thermal envelope of 65 W. They also have 6 MB of L2 cache, 32 MB of L3 cache and support overclocking, Precision Boost Overdrive, Curve Optimizer and DDR5 memory with EXPO profiles.

Identical CPU performance in practice

In pure CPU performance, there is therefore no reason to expect the slightest measurable difference. Same number of cores, same frequencies, same cache, same power limits. In a game launched with a dedicated graphics card, the two chips should behave identically , with the margin of error taken into account.

In the absence of independent tests of the 7500 at the time these lines are written, it is better to avoid inventing a graph with two different bars. The measurements published by Digital Foundry on the 7500F, however, provide a good benchmark. The 7500F was only 1% behind the Ryzen 5 7600 in multicore Cinebench R20 and in HandBrake, despite the additional 100 MHz of the 7600. Since the 7500 precisely takes the frequencies of the 7500F, a significant gap between them would be very surprising.

Can the iGPU of the Ryzen 5 7500 run games?

Not really, no. Its 2 RDNA 2 compute units are there to display Windows, play a video, and troubleshoot a machine, period. By comparison, a Ryzen 5 8600G features 8 significantly faster RDNA 3 units. We are simply not in the same product category.

Old or very light games can start in 720p with the details at minimum. But buying this processor to play without a graphics card would be a bad idea. Fortnite, Cyberpunk 2077 or the big games of 2026 will either run very poorly or impose frankly painful concessions. For a gaming PC, the small integrated Radeon remains a spare wheel .

Nuance matters: a spare wheel can save an evening. If your graphics card fails, if a driver refuses to start, or if you want to check if artifacts come from the GPU, you can connect the screen to the motherboard and get an image. With the 7500F, impossible. You have to install another graphics card, even temporarily.

The cases where the integrated graphics part is really useful

First scenario: the initial assembly. With the Ryzen 5 7500, you can assemble the motherboard, the processor, the RAM, and the SSD, then enter the BIOS without having received the graphics card yet. It’s convenient for updating the BIOS, testing the memory, or installing Windows. Not essential, but comfortable.

Second case, much more concrete: the diagnosis. A PC that turns on without displaying an image can hide a bunch of problems. GPU, PCIe power supply, DisplayPort cable, PCIe slot, driver... The iGPU allows for quickly eliminating the graphics card from the equation. When troubleshooting multiple machines, this shortcut saves time.

For office use, the 7500 also works without a dedicated GPU. Browsing, Office suite, video streaming, and 4K display are not an issue if the motherboard has the appropriate video outputs. It can therefore equip a quiet family PC or a small backup machine. But again, the pricing position may ruin everything: at €230, other processors with a stronger iGPU become more logical.

There remains the video encoding. The AMD VCN multimedia block can accelerate certain formats, but it does not turn these 2 CUs into a editing station. And no, this is not "Quick Sync": that name belongs to Intel. To stream or regularly export videos, the encoder of your dedicated graphics card will generally remain the best choice. The iGPU of the 7500 is a troubleshooting bonus, not its main selling point.

At €230, the Ryzen 5 7500 makes almost no sense

The Ryzen 5 7500F is found around 118 to 121 € at the cheapest French sellers on September 12, 2026. At LDLC, prices are higher, around 150 € depending on the version, but we are far from the 230 € mentioned for the 7500.

Paying ten or twenty euros to keep a backup video output? Why not, that makes sense. Paying about 110 € more? No, not at that level. At that point, you are basically buying a second entry-level processor just to get a tiny iGPU that will never really be useful.

The price of €230 is not yet official, let's insist on that. It may correspond to a poorly placed initial reference, an inflated launch price, or a listing that does not reflect the French market. The judgment will change if the 7500 actually arrives around €140 to €150. Beyond €160, it already becomes difficult to defend against the Ryzen 5 7600, often available with the same iGPU and 100 MHz more.

Which processor to choose for an AM5 gaming setup?

With a dedicated graphics card, the Ryzen 5 7500F remains the rational choice . Its 6 Zen 4 cores still hold up very well in gaming, it provides access to the AM5 platform and its price leaves more budget for the GPU, RAM, or a larger SSD. On a setup costing 800 or 1,000 €, fifty euros shifted towards the graphics card have much more effect than the presence of an unused iGPU.

The Ryzen 5 7500 can be of interest in three situations: you often troubleshoot PCs, you want to run the machine for a while without a graphics card, or you are willing to pay a small extra for display security. "Small" is the important word. At equal CPU performance, we would recommend the 7500 if the gap remains under €20 or €25.

To play without a graphics card, forget the two and look instead at the Ryzen 5 8600G. Its Radeon 760M iGPU is designed for this use. If you want a faster gaming processor and your budget rises to around €220, the Ryzen 5 7500X3D is much more interesting thanks to its 96 MB of L3 cache. And if the Ryzen 5 7600 is priced close to the 7500, take the 7600: it offers the same graphical safety net with a slight frequency advantage.

Our verdict: the 7500F wins, except for a tiny price difference

AMD has made a coherent processor, then perhaps placed it in the wrong spot in the catalog. The Ryzen 5 7500 corrects the only real flaw of the 7500F, namely the inability to get a display without a dedicated graphics card. For assembling, testing, and troubleshooting a PC, this small iGPU provides a real service.

That said, it does not change anything to the performance once a graphics card is plugged in. If the Ryzen 5 7500 really costs around €230 while the 7500F is around €120, the debate is settled in advance. Take the 7500F, without hesitation. No one should pay €110 for a backup video output that will be used once every three years.

Our threshold is simple: up to 20 or 25 € difference, the 7500 can hold its ground . Beyond that, the 7500F is the best purchase. And around €200, it is better to directly compare the Ryzen 5 7600, 8600G, and 7500X3D according to usage.
