100 pets, a system of trust and zero loot filter: welcome to Pywel's zoo

The patch 1.11 of Crimson Desert has just raised the limit to 100 registered devices (against 30 before) and you can now invoke 50 at the camp . Pearl Abyss clearly decided that the companion system should become an entire part of the game. And frankly, when you realize that your dog automatically picks up all the loot on the ground while you chain combos... you quickly understand why it's not just a gadget.

This guide covers everything: the Trust system, how to tame each type of animal, where to find rare pets, the Golden Apple technique to skip the grind, and the baby wyvern - yes, you can have a flying baby dragon that loots for you. We're not going to beat around the bush, let's get started.

The Trust System: how does it work

Each wild animal in Pywel has a gauge of Trust who goes from 0 to 100. To claim it as a companion, you must raise this gauge to the max. Two ways to achieve this: caresses and food.

The caresses report +25 Trust per day per animal. For dogs, it's simple: you approach and hold the interaction button. For cats — because they're cats — you must first pick them up, then pet them. Limit of 25 Trust/day using this method, no way to spam.

To speed up the thing, you can feed the animals. Open your inventory, select the food, and throw it on the ground near the animal. If it is hungry, it will come to eat on its own.

Food by type of animal

  • Dogs — Raw meat, bones. +35 Trust per meal. Three pieces of meat and it's folded in 30 seconds.
  • Cats — Bird meat, fish, milk. Only +10 Trust per meal. It's longer and more expensive. Plan for stock.
  • Birds — First complete the 'Authorized Access' quest to obtain the Sotdae of Bonding. Then you can feed them to build trust.

Be careful when you drop food in a crowded village. NPCs and other animals are thieves. A stray cat might steal your premium fish if you're not careful. Try to lure your target into a quiet corner before bringing out the buffet.

Tip: if you want to avoid the Trust grind, read the Golden Apple section below. It changes everything.

Action Trust wins Daily Limit Max Trust per day
Petting (dog) +25 Once a day +25
Pet (cat, in arms) +25 Once a day +25
Feed dog (meat/bones) +35 3 times a day +105
Feed cat (fish/milk) +10 3 times a day +30
Pomme d'or +100 Instantaneous Tame immediately

Birds (15 species)

Sparrow, Pigeon, Blue Jay, Crow, Grey Parrot, Goose, Black-Naped Oriole, Condor, Eagle, Duck, Sun Conure, Little Blue Macaw — plus three legendary: Phoenix , Iron Eagle and Hyacinth Macaw Birds require the Sotdae of Bonding (Authorized Access quest) before they can be fed.

Special animals (patch 1.08+)

With the recent updates, Pearl Abyss has added about twenty small species: Snowfield Fox , Snowfield Weasel, Hedgehog, Armadillo, Desert Fox, Desert Porcupine, Wombat, Platypus, Skunk, Badger, Raccoon, Red Squirrel... And especially the Baby Wyvern , which has its own taming system (see below).

The Platypus is located near Three Brothers Cliff (to the right of Hernand) and requires some live fish to be tamed. The Hedgehog is found everywhere in nature, but it is especially him who will bring you the Golden Apples — we come back to it.

Golden Apple: the instant tame

The Golden Apple is the taming cheat code. You give it to any animal and boom: +100 Trust instantly . No grind, no waiting, the pet is yours.

Where to farm Golden Apples

The best spot is Grey Rock Dock , to the northwest of Demeniss, along the river between Demeniss and Hernand. Hedgehogs wander around the area with a shiny Golden Apple on their back.

  • Position on the board : northwest of Demeniss, along the river that borders Hernand.
  • What you are looking for : hedgehogs with a sparkling golden apple on their back.
  • Time slot : reports vary, but the 16h-midnight slot seems the most reliable. Other players say 9h-18h.
  • How to recover the apple : use your bow or lantern to target the apple, then equip a Mask before picking it up — it counts as theft.
  • Quick loop : alternate between the road, the pumpkin house, and the quarry path to force respawns.

You can also find Golden Apples through the golden apple orchard south of Trader's Expanse. Less reliable, but it's a secondary spot if you're struggling at Grey Rock Dock.

Pro tip: save your Golden Apples for the rarest or most annoying pets to feed (cats, Platypus, Snowfield Fox). Dogs, three pieces of meat and they're good to go.

The Baby Wyvern: how to get the best pet in the game

The Baby Wyvern is the holy grail of pets in Crimson Desert. A flying mini-dragon that follows Kearush everywhere and automatically loots corpses during combat. Faster and more precise than any dog or cat.

Find the Wyvern egg

The egg is located in the cave of Wyvern's Cradle , to the northwest of Fort Windridge, in the southwest of Delasyia. To reveal the entrance of the cave, use the Focused Force Palm : Aim the Abyss Gear at the stone and release when the screen flashes yellow.

Once in the cave, look for a large white egg to the right of the treasure chest (the one containing the Skyblazer set helmet). Since patch 1.10, there is a second egg in the area — allowing you to have a pet AND a wyvern mount.

Hatch the egg

Take the egg and carry it to the Wyvern nest marked on your minimap, a few meters southwest of the cave. Place it in the center of the nest and wait for the 'Hatch' button to appear. A short cinematic later, the baby wyvern is born — and it's directly yours, no need to mount the Trust.

Pet or mount: both

With patch 1.10, you can feed a Baby Wyvern to make it grow into a flying mount There is a daily limit as for the Trust of other pets. When it reaches level 3, you can interact with it to trigger the transformation.

The good strat: grow the first egg in a mount, then collect the second one and hatch it to keep a Baby Wyvern as a loot pet. Best of both worlds.

Since patch 1.10, you can equip the Sigil of Valor (purchasable from the secret vendor Pororin) on the Baby Wyvern so that it fights by your side. But it is not recommended - while it attacks, it does not loot.

Manage your collection: invocation, limits, and equipment

Once the Trust reaches 100, a new prompt appears to claim the pet. After that, it goes to your Pets tab (Inventory menu). From there, you can summon it, dismiss it, or release it.

The limits since patch 1.11

  • Total roster : 100 pets (before it was 30)
  • Pets called at camp : 50 max
  • Active pet in combat : 1 at a time
  • Armor of pet : cosmetic only (no stats)

The inventory of farts is managed from the menu. You can unclip a fart to permanently remove it from your list - be careful, it's irreversible.

Where to buy pet outfits

Management Pororin Village , in the children's area Shai. The local seller offers clothes, mini-armors, and accessories to dress up your companions. A second shop exists in the southeast corner of the Demeniss region.

The armor does not provide any stat bonuses — pets are already completely immune to damage. But a Boarhound in knight armor is objectively hilarious.

Optimize your pet farming

The issue of unfiltered loot

The farts pick up absolutely everything on the ground. Rusty swords, torn boots, various debris. Your inventory fills up at an absurd speed if you're not careful. Since Crimson Desert manages capacity by slots and not by weight, an overly enthusiastic dog will block you in 10 minutes.

Invested in Medium Bags as soon as possible to increase your capacity. And regularly sort through your pockets between two fights.

Optimal training route for beginners

Step 1 : Start with Heidel. It's the easiest area to find common dogs and cats. Grab a dog with three pieces of meat.

Step 2 : Do the 'Authorized Access' quest as soon as you can to unlock bird taming.

Step 3 : Go farm Golden Apples at Grey Rock Dock. Keep them for rare pets.

Step 4 : Head to Wyvern's Cradle to retrieve your Baby Wyvern. It's the best looter in the game.

Step 5 : Fill your collection by exploring mid/endgame areas - Tarif and Perorin Village for rare cats, snowy areas for the Snowfield Fox.

The challenge 'Little Companions'

There is a challenge that requires you to tame 30 unique pets (not necessarily legendary ones). It is located in Life, White Crow's Gaze Hunting. It's worth aiming for it early - the reward makes the rest of the grind easier.

FAQ

How many pets can you have in total in Crimson Desert?

Since patch 1.11 (June 2026), you can save up to 100 pets and summon 50 at the camp. Only one active pet accompanies you in combat.

Can farts die in battle?

No. Pets are completely immune to damage. They cannot die, even against the most violent bosses.

How to quickly tame a cat?

Cats are slower to tame than dogs. The quick method: use a Golden Apple (+100 Trust instantly). Otherwise, prepare fish or milk in large quantities. A Golden Carp also works for instant tame on certain breeds.

Where to find the Baby Wyvern?

In the Wyvern's Cradle cave, northwest of Fort Windridge in southwest Delasyia. You need to use the Focused Force Palm to open the entrance. Since patch 1.10, there are two eggs — one for the pet, one for the flying mount.

Do farts serve any purpose other than loot?

Mainly for automatic looting, yes. But since patch 1.10, you can equip the Sigil of Valor on certain pets (Iron Eagle, Phoenix, Baby Wyvern) so that they fight by your side. In practice, it is less useful than automatic looting.

How to get the Sotdae of Bonding to tame birds?

Complete the quest 'Authorized Access'. This unlocks the item Sotdae of Bonding which allows you to feed wild birds and build their Trust.
