What games to install on your phone this summer? Our selection of the top 10 mobile games of 2026 - from solid gacha to addictive roguelike, including fresh releases from June.

Summer 2026: the golden age of mobile gaming

Let's not lie: two years ago, releasing a list of "best mobile games" was a painful exercise. Three gacha, a battle royale, and Candy Crush to make up the numbers. In 2026, it's another game.

Major publishers have understood that the smartphone is no longer a sub-PC — it is the main platform for hundreds of millions of players. As a result: open-world games under Unreal Engine 5 on mobile, Cyberpunk crossovers on your phone, console ports that we would never have imagined three years ago. And alongside this, the indie scene has never been so lively on the stores.

We spent June and the beginning of July testing, farming, speedrunning, and raging on about thirty titles. Here's our top 10 - the ones that really deserve to eat up your battery this summer.

1. Zenless Zone Zero — the most stylish gacha of 2026

HoYoverse has struck again, but this time it's different. Where Genshin plays the card of the contemplative open world, ZZZ sends out some fast-paced beat'em up action in a cyberpunk/urban universe who has its own identity. And frankly, a year after its release, the game has only gotten better.

Version 2.1 "The Impending Crash of Waves" lands on July 16 with a new beach area — Sailume Bay — and a Fantasy Resort to explore. Two new S-Rank agents (Yuzuha Ukinami and Alice Thymefield), a Bangboo PvP auto-battler, and a revamped fishing system. It's the big summer update and it's awesome.

On the performance side, it's rather well optimized on mobile compared to the competition. On a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 or an A17 Pro, it runs at nearly constant 60 fps on medium-high settings. The combat animations remain incredibly smooth even on modest configurations.

Price: Free-to-play | Platforms: Android, iOS, PC, PS5, Xbox

2. Wuthering Waves — the Cyberpunk crossover that breaks everything

Kuro Games went from outsider to direct competitor of HoYoverse in record time. The version 3.4 "The Dream Not Dreamed" released a Cyberpunk crossover: Edgerunners that set the networks on fire. Lucy and Rebecca as playable characters — with Rebecca free, please.

The new hub Somnoire: Night City is dense, neon everywhere, with an expedition motorcycle to cross it all. Combat remains the big highlight of the game: it's nervous, technical, and the combos between Resonators have a depth that Genshin still doesn't have.

Small downside anyway: on mobile, the 3.4 heats up . Micro-stutters, framerate drops, especially in dense areas of Night City. NotebookCheck documented the issue. If you have a mid-range phone, lower crowd density and shadows — it solves 80% of the problem.

Price: Free-to-play | Platforms: Android, iOS, PC, PS5

3. Honor of Kings: World — the unexpected mobile open-world

Tencent has taken Honor of Kings — the most played MOBA in the world (yes, ahead of LoL) — and turned it into an open-world action-RPG under Unreal Engine 5. Released in China in mid-April 2026, the game runs on cross-play mobile/PC and the first feedback is amazing.

Three exploratory areas at launch — Underground Ruins for dark dungeon, Dragon Valley for vertical exploration on a giant dragon skeleton, and Aerfall Highlands where mechanical mobs one-shot you if you're not ready. Real-time combat is solid, co-op raids work well, and most importantly: monetization is cosmetic only. No pay-to-win.

The global alpha is already accessible, but the international release date remains unclear. If you can access it — go for it. It's probably the most ambitious mobile game of 2026.

Price: Free-to-play | Platforms: Android, iOS, PC (cross-play)

4. Vampire Survivors - Legacy of the Bloodmoon arrives this summer

The bullet-heaven phenomenon shows no signs of weakening. Vampire Survivors remains the game that you start "for 5 minutes" and end up playing for 2 hours, with bloodshot eyes.

The DLC Legacy of the Bloodmoon lands this summer on all platforms, including mobile. On the agenda: 12 new characters, 16+ weapons and new evolutions, an XL stage, and 8 musical tracks. In parallel, the free update 1.15 "Lycaeum" adds an underwater level with fish weapons (yes, really) and finally multi-save.

On mobile, the game runs on absolutely everything. An old phone from 2022 runs it without a hitch. It's the perfect game for train rides or the beach — one hand is enough.

Price: Free (with in-app purchases for DLC) | Platforms: Android, iOS, PC, Switch, Xbox, PS

5. PUBG Mobile — the Transformers collaboration of the summer

PUBG Mobile, 8 years later, is still here. And it refuses to die.

The big event of the summer is the collaboration PUBG Mobile x Transformers from July 8 to September 2, 2026. Optimus Prime and Megatron skins, a dedicated thematic mode, and probably transforming vehicles — because why not at this point. Before that, version 4.3 had already released an intergalactic mode and a Jujutsu Kaisen collab for the anniversary.

The Dinoground mode (version 2.6) allows you to ride pterosaurs and velociraptors. We are far from the "realistic" battle royale of the early days, but it's fun and it works. If you dropped out two years ago, maybe it's time to retest - the game has little to do with what it was.

Price: Free-to-play | Platforms: Android, iOS

6. Genshin Impact — still essential 4 years later

Well, putting Genshin on a list in 2026 is a bit like recommending breathing. But it's justified: the game continues to release massive updates, Natlan is still being explored, and the graphic quality on mobile remains a reference.

What makes the difference this summer is the accumulated free content volume If you've never played Genshin, you literally have hundreds of hours of quests, exploration, and dungeons ahead of you — all without spending a penny. For a holiday game, it's unbeatable.

The only criticism: the game now weighs over 25 GB on mobile. Plan for space.

Price: Free-to-play | Platforms: Android, iOS, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox, Switch

7. LIMIT ZERO BREAKERS — the surprise action-RPG of June

Quietly released in June 2026, LIMIT ZERO BREAKERS climbed the charts without making any noise. It is a action-RPG with a fast combat system and chained combo mechanics that remind of a Devil May Cry mobile. The graphics are clean, the UI is neat, and above all the game doesn't harass you with microtransaction pop-ups every 30 seconds.

It's the kind of game that comes out of nowhere and ends up in your top 5 of the month. If you like mobile ARPGs but are tired of gachas asking for your rent, try this one.

Price: Free-to-play | Platforms: Android, iOS

8. Monster Hunter Outlanders - the beta that makes you drool

Ok, technically it's not out yet. But the 2nd closed beta launched at the end of April by TiMi Studio (under Capcom license) has generated so much hype that it deserves a place here.

Monster Hunter Outlanders takes the MH formula and turns it into open-world survival on mobile. Monster hunting, crafting, exploration — all with an art direction that delivers for mobile. The beta showed a solid combat system and monsters that are scary, even on a 6-inch screen.

No official release date yet, but given the state of the beta, it's clearly for 2026. Sign up on the official website so you don't miss the launch.

Price: Free-to-play (expected) | Platforms: Android, iOS

9. Slime Rancher (mobile) — the perfect cozy port for summer

Slime Rancher on mobile is the ultimate stress-free game. You raise slimes, manage your ranch, explore colorful biomes - zero pressure, zero competition. Just you and your little sticky balls.

The porting is well done. The touch controls work, the UI adaptation is clean, and visually it looks very good on modern AMOLED screens. At 8 euros, it's a one-time purchase with no ads or microtransactions — and just for that, it deserves to be highlighted in 2026.

The ideal game for mountain holidays when it's raining. Or in a hammock. Or anywhere, really.

Price: 8 euros | Platforms: Android, iOS

10. Honkai: Star Rail — the turn-based RPG that respects your time

Third HoYoverse on the list — and it's well deserved. Star Rail is the gacha that understood that mobile players don't want to spend 45 minutes on a battle. 15-20 minute sessions, smooth turn-based combat, engaging story.

The format is perfect for summer: you do your dailies in 10 minutes, you advance the story when you have time, and you can quit the game without feeling guilty. The Penacony arc is finished and the story continues with fresh content every 6 weeks.

If you like Japanese RPGs but don't want to bother with complex combat mechanics - this is the one for you.

Honorable mentions

Some games that almost made it into the top and deserve a look:

  • CrisisX — Nervous Shooter released in Q2 2026, free-to-play, sci-fi atmosphere. Good if you've exhausted PUBG.
  • Silver Palace — RPG roguelike released in early June. Short runs, loot, replayability.
  • UnGodly — Roguelike action brutal, dark aesthetic, addictive gameplay. The new Hades mobile?
  • Pokémon TCG Pocket — The Pokémon card game revisited. Quick sessions, collecting without breaking the bank (almost).

FAQ

What is the best free mobile game in 2026?

In terms of content/quality ratio without paying, Genshin Impact remains unbeatable with its hundreds of hours of free gameplay. For something fresher, Zenless Zone Zero v2.1 is our current recommendation.

Which mobile game consumes the least battery?

Vampire Survivors, without hesitation. The game is so light that it runs on a toaster. Slime Rancher is also very reasonable in consumption. Avoid Wuthering Waves v3.4 if you're far from an outlet.

What mobile game to play offline?

Vampire Survivors works perfectly offline. Slime Rancher too. The gachas (ZZZ, Genshin, Wuthering Waves, Star Rail) all require a permanent connection.

Do you need a good phone for these games?

For Vampire Survivors and Slime Rancher, any phone less than 4 years old is sufficient. For big RPGs like Honor of Kings: World or Wuthering Waves, aim for a minimum of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or A16 Bionic for a comfortable experience.

What mobile games are coming out in the summer of 2026?

The major releases/updates of summer 2026: Zenless Zone Zero v2.1 (July 16), the PUBG x Transformers collab (July 8 - September 2), the Legacy of the Bloodmoon DLC for Vampire Survivors, and potentially the official release of Monster Hunter Outlanders.
