All legendary weapons in Crimson Desert: where to find them and which one to choose

Crimson Desert doesn't give gifts. The game throws you into Pywel with a basic sword and a bow that does the job - but that's it. The real weapons, the ones that change the game against bosses and hordes of enemies, you have to go get them yourself.

And it's not written on the map.

Unique and legendary weapons are hidden in chests at the bottom of caves, behind waterfalls, in trapped dungeons, or retrieved from the corpses of very angry bosses. Each weapon comes with its own Abyss Gears — modifiers that give you special abilities, life steal, area damage, or critical bonuses. In short, it's not decorative loot.

We've combed the entire Pywel map to compile the complete list for you. One-handed swords, greatswords, spears, daggers, shields, bows — everything is included. For each weapon, you'll have the stats, the exact location, and most importantly whether it's worth it or not.

One-handed swords and rapiers

It is the most well-stocked category in the game. Logical - Kliff starts with a sword, and the majority of players stick to this type of weapon throughout the campaign. One-handed swords allow the use of a shield in parallel, which is almost mandatory against certain bosses.

Sword of the Lord — it's your first legendary weapon, the one you get by defeating Kailok the Horn Splitter during the main quest. 13 in attack, it's not crazy, but its Abyss Gear Wind Slash compensates widely. Each charged blow sends a wind blade that hits enemies from a distance. In early game, it changes everything.

Tauria Curved Sword — 15 ATK, obtained by defeating the Crowcaller at the end of Chapter 5. The Abyss Gear Crow's Pursuit summons spectral ravens that chase your target. Visually cool, and especially useful against fleeing enemies.

Melted Ambition — 17 ATK. You get it by beating Myurdin during the Decisive Battle in Chapter 7. Its Abyss Gear Groundsurge creates ground shakes that stun nearby enemies. Very good in group combat.

Hollow Visage — 17 ATK as well, but a different profile. Hidden in a chest at the bottom of the Dawn Cave, behind a waterfall in the Mountain of Lost Souls. Three Abyss Gears at once: Insight I, Gale I, and Destruction I. A versatile weapon that boosts your critical hits and speed.

Survivor's Solitude — The slap. 21 ATK, it's one of the best one-handed swords in the game. Found in the Death's Grip Cavern, northwest of Lake Kharonso — still behind a waterfall, yes. Pearl Abyss loves waterfalls. Three Abyss Gears: Swift I, Insight I, Destruction I. Fast, critical, destructive.

Acria Sword — 20 ATK with Crit Rate Lv. 2. This one, it's earned. You have to solve the music box puzzle in Stellen Manor, lower the platform, place the book on the shelf. No combat, just brain — and a reward worth it.

Wolf's Fang (18 ATK, Speed Lv. 2) and The Grove's Thorn (17 ATK, Spirit Transference) complete the list. Less prominent, but solid for the mid-game.

Daggers and rapiers

Daggers are the choice of players who love burst damage. Less range, but monstrous critical hits and insane attack speed when you chain combos with fists.

Goblin King's Treasure Dagger — 16 ATK and especially Crit Rate Lv. 5 . Yes, level 5. It's the highest critical rate of all the weapons in the game. You find it under the Mudridge Cabin in Pororin Forest, in a chest accessible quite early. If you play crit build, it's non-negotiable.

Kylus Dagger — 14 ATK, Speed Lv. 3. You receive it from a random woman in the town of Hernand after defeating the Stag Lord. Not the most powerful, but Speed Lv. 3 makes it a combo machine.

Fallen Kingdom's Rapier — 18 ATK, Speed Lv. 2. In a chest at the ruins of Icemoor Castle. Mid-game access, solid for transitioning to more challenging areas.

Great swords and two-handed weapons

Here we enter the heavy. Two-handed weapons hit like trucks but you sacrifice the shield. It's the choice of players who prefer to dodge and punish rather than block.

Soul Spear — 27 ATK. The highest raw attack in the whole game, across all categories. Found in the Antumbra Ritual Grounds, west of Hernand in the cliffs. Its special effect is crazy: when you defeat an enemy, the spear automatically fires spectral projectiles that hit enemies around. Cooldown of 10 seconds. In group combat, it's a massacre.

Frozen Anguish — 25 ATK with Stamina Transference. Chest in the basement of the Spire of Frost, in the Dead Fire Mountains north of Hernand. Caution: the area inflicts constant cold damage, bring food and healing. The Abyss Gear Stamina Transference restores your stamina with each hit — perfect for long combos without catching your breath.

Vessel of Dark Pursuit — 25 ATK as well, but with Wound of Darkness like Abyss Gear. Each attack stacks a shadow debuff on the target, and after 5 stacks, it explodes into massive damage. Obtained at the Sanctum of Absolution by defeating Antumbra's Sword. The boss is tough, come prepared.

Ignir — 24 ATK, Crit Lv. 1, triple Abyss Gear (Destruction I x2 + Insight I). You automatically get it by completing Chapter 7 of the main story. No need to search, just finish the campaign. Solid for the endgame.

Darkbringer — 22 ATK, Crit Rate Lv. 3, with Ator's Orb + Gale I + Insight I. Planted between the teeth of a giant skeleton in the White Wastes Sanctuary at Five-Finger Mountain, northwest of Pailune. Accessible very early if you dare to venture into the frozen mountains. It is the early game weapon par excellence for two-handed builds.

Righteous Verdict — 23 ATK, Speed Lv. 2, Crit Lv. 3. Found in the Demeniss Ancestors' Ruins. Gale II (not I, be careful — it's the only level 2 Gale in the game) + Destruction I + Insight I. The most balanced of great swords.

Hwando — 19 ATK. Chest in the annex building of Lioncrest Manor, but you must first buy the key from Hernand's Back Alley Shop. Three Abyss Gears to compensate for the slightly low attack: Insight I, Stamina Transference, Destruction I.

Unique shields

We don't talk about it enough, but shields in Crimson Desert are not just a passive block. Unique shields have Abyss Gears that completely change your survival in boss fights.

Shield of Conviction — DEF 8. The best shield in the game, period. Aegis I + Fortitude I. Chest at the top of the Calphade Church tower. The Aegis reduces damage taken while guarding, the Fortitude increases your max HP. Ultimate defensive combo.

Shield of Betrayal — DEF 6, Aegis I + Fortitude I. Retrieved from Cassius Morten during The Unyielding Shields quest in Chapter 6. Same Abyss Gears combo as the Shield of Conviction, but with 2 less DEF points.

Staglord's Shield — DEF 6, Speed Lv. 2. Drop from Staglord Saigord during a House Serkis faction quest. Fortification I + Aegis I. Interesting if you want to maintain mobility with a shield.

Rhonid Large Shield — DEF 7, Speed Lv. 1. Chest on the ground floor of Lioncrest Manor. Solid mid-game choice.

The Shield of Sacrifice (DEF 6, marine cave) and Shield of Radiance (DEF 5, Move Speed Lv. 3, hidden hole north of Verdant Paradise) shields complete the collection for players who want it all.

Special weapons and Abyss artifacts

Exploration de donjon dans Crimson Desert pour trouver des armes uniques Click to enlarge

In addition to the classic unique weapons, Crimson Desert hides Special weapons of Abyss that are obtained by collecting Sealed Abyss Artifacts scattered throughout the open world. These artifacts are placed on small wooden altars at the edge of roads — easy to miss if you gallop without looking.

Each artifact unlocks a challenge. Succeed, and you keep the weapon. Fail, and you will have to start over.

  • Propeller Spear — Northwest route from Oasis Hearth in the Crimson Desert
  • Lightning Spear — Wooden altar north of Arcosa, by the roadside
  • Bismuth Spear — West of Svinholt Ranch in Pailune, small sanctuary
  • Flamespitter — Intersection south of Varnia Saltroad Camp
  • Knuckledrill — Northwest of the Isvatu fortress

These weapons do not appear in the classic guides because they are technically challenge weapons, not loot from chests. But some — notably the Lightning Spear — rival the best weapons in the game once the challenge is completed.

Tips for farming legendary weapons

A few things I wish I had known before spending 3 hours looking for the Dawn Cave.

  • Prepare your food before leaving. Loot zones are often hostile - cold, poison, tough enemies. Bring Fishball Soup or equivalent.
  • The key to the Back Alley Shop. Several weapons require purchasing a key from the merchant in the dark alley in Hernand. Note it somewhere.
  • Waterfalls always hide something. Seriously. If you see a waterfall, go behind it. It's almost always a chest.
  • Upgrade your fists in parallel. Bare hands are classified as S+ in tier lists. They connect all weapon combos. Even with a legendary weapon, your fists remain your best tool.
  • Do not sell unique weapons. They resell for 27 silver. It's worth nothing. Keep them to test different builds.

Can we improve unique weapons?

No. Unlike normal weapons that can be upgraded by sacrificing duplicates, unique weapons cannot be improved. What you find is what you keep. Hence the importance of grabbing the best ones as early as possible.

What is the best weapon in the game?

It depends on the build. In pure brute force attack, the Soul Spear dominates with 27 ATK and a devastating special effect. For the crit, the Goblin King's Treasure Dagger with its Crit Rate Lv. 5 is unbeatable. And if you want a balanced attack/survival combo, the Frozen Anguish with its Stamina Transference is probably the best choice for the endgame.

Can one permanently miss a legendary weapon?

The boss story weapons (Sword of the Lord, Melted Ambition, Ignir, Silverwolf Axe) are given automatically — impossible to miss. The chest weapons are always there, no timer. However, the Kylus Dagger comes from an NPC in Hernand who only appears after defeating the Stag Lord. If you progress too far in the main quest without returning, some players report that the NPC disappears.

Should all weapons be farmed?

Not necessarily. If you play sword + shield, focus on Survivor's Solitude + Shield of Conviction. If you play two hands, prioritize Soul Spear or Frozen Anguish. And if you like burst damage, Goblin King's Dagger is your top priority.

Our verdict on the weapons of Crimson Desert

Pearl Abyss has done a real job on the weapon system. Each legendary has its identity, its memorable location, and above all a real usefulness in combat. It's not just filling in to check boxes.

The best advice we can give you: explore. The best weapons are not on the critical path. They require going off the beaten path, diving into caves, climbing frozen mountains. And that's precisely what makes Crimson Desert so good — the reward of exploration.
