The latest baby from HoYoverse (the creators of Genshin Impact), Zenless Zone Zero , has just landed on Steam on June 17 in version 3.0. It's an action-RPG set in a futuristic urban universe, with a hyper stylish combat system based on combos, parry, and character switching.

The game is more linear than Genshin — we are on a mission-by-mission content rather than open-world — but the combat is much more nervous and technical. The atmosphere is great: a mix of cyberpunk and streetwear, a banging soundtrack, charismatic characters. The gacha model is also there, but like Genshin, you can enjoy the content without using the CB.

15,000 players at peak on Steam for the launch, it's modest, but the bulk of the player base is on mobile. Version 3.1 arrives on July 29 with fresh content.

Why now: It's brand new on Steam and v3.1 is coming at the end of July. If you like fast-paced and stylish action combat, it's time to try it.

It is not talked about enough, but Rocket League is probably the most accessible free-to-play on this list. The concept is as simple as can be: soccer with cars. Except the progression curve is infinite. You start hitting the ball any which way, and 200 hours later you're doing ceiling shots and flip resets.

The game became free in September 2020 and has never lost its community. Matches last 5 minutes, perfect for filling a gap between two Genshin games or waiting for your friends on Discord. Crossplay works perfectly between all platforms.

That one is a bit special: Path of Exile 2 is currently in paid early access (patch 0.5.4). But the version 1.0 completely free is planned for early December 2026 , just after the ExileCon of November 7-8 in Auckland.

Why are we still talking about it? Because it's potentially the biggest free-to-play launch of the year. Grinding Gear Games is building a massive ARPG — like Diablo, but with a theoretical depth of build that is dizzying. The skill tree is intimidating the first time you see it. It's intentional.

If you liked Diablo 4 but find the endgame a bit light, PoE2 is made for you. And in December, it will be entirely free — no supporter pack required. Put it on your list.
