NZXT S5 RGB / Deluxe: S Series returns from $49.99 (specs & who it's for)

On September 22, 2026, NZXT revived its S Series with two compact ATX cases: the S5 RGB and the S5 RGB Deluxe. Same steel chassis + dual panoramic tempered glass, same clearances. The only real difference is the fans in the box. Official MSRP: $49.99 for the RGB, $59.99 for the Deluxe (EMEA 59,90 € / 69,90 €).

The angle here isn’t “yet another RGB case.” It’s: does this S5 hold up against an H5 Flow or a Corsair-style WARTHOG / 4000D airflow on a tight AM5 budget build — B650 motherboard, long GPU, optional 360 AIO — without making you pay for marketing gloss.

We start from the NZXT S5 RGB Black sheet (EAN 5056547208312), SKU CC-S51FB-01. White RGB variant: EAN 5056547208329. Deluxe black / white: 5056547208336 and 5056547208343.

Both models share exactly the same chassis. Dimensions 482 × 210 × 423 mm (42.8 L), weight 6.14 kg (RGB) / 6.44 kg (Deluxe). Supports ATX / mATX / Mini-ITX boards. Materials: steel, tempered glass, plastic. 2-year warranty.

The fan included with the RGB: a 360 mm single-frame RGB reverse (right side, intake), 4-pin PWM / 5V ARGB, ~1500 RPM, ~50.5 CFM per fan, ~30.1 dBA. No hub included — you plug into the motherboard.

Same steel, same glass, same clearances, same I/O. The Deluxe adds two RGB modules already mounted and wired: a 120 mm RGB reverse in the angled bottom (aimed at the GPU) + a 120 mm RGB rear exhaust. Total: 5 fans across 3 lighting planes, versus one 360 mm block on the RGB. Five mounts stay free either way.

Short verdict: if you already have 2–3 good 120 mm PWM fans in the drawer, the RGB at $49.99 is the sweet spot. If you want to power on day one without ordering fans, the Deluxe at $59.99 skips the accessory cart. DropReference Deluxe sheets: black 5056547208336 · white 5056547208343.

The S5 bets on dual-glass panorama (front + left): aquarium look without a 50 L cube. Against an NZXT H5 Flow (front mesh, raw airflow first) or a Corsair-style 4000D / WARTHOG airflow, the brief isn’t the same.

• H5 Flow / Corsair mesh: better “free air” front intake, ideal for hot GPUs on front push, more discreet look.
• S5 RGB: showcase look + right-side reverse fan already aimed at the glass. Air mostly enters via the side mesh + angled bottom, not a full front mesh.

That isn’t a flaw if you understand the path: side reverse as intake + angled bottom toward the GPU + rear/top exhaust. For placement detail, see the PC fan placement guide (airflow 2026).

If you put GPU thermals above showcase aesthetics, an H5 Flow or Corsair mesh stays more “stupidly effective.” The S5 wins on looks and the entry-price RGB pack.

On the motherboard side, an MSI B650 GAMING PLUS WIFI (or equivalent entry B650/B850) drops into ATX without drama. AM5 socket, DDR5, Wi‑Fi: the logical pair with a non-X3D Ryzen 5/7 or a 7600X/9600X to stay under the “clean build without going broke” bar.

GPU clearance 415 mm: you cover nearly all long custom RTX 4070 / 5070 / RX 7800–9060 XT cards. CPU cooler 162 mm: a Peerless Assassin / Phantom Spirit fits; beyond that, switch to a 240/360 top AIO. 200 mm PSU: most mid-range modular ATX units are fine.

• Yes: 1080p/1440p showcase RGB gaming build, case budget ~$50–60, front USB-C, fan upgrades possible.
• No: multi-HDD, fancy vertical back-connect GPU, or absolute GPU °C chase without adding bottom fans.

Compared with a generic “cheap mesh” case at $40–50 without panoramic glass or USB-C 20 Gbps, the S5 RGB is justified if the look is part of the brief. Otherwise, stick with mesh.

The NZXT S5 RGB at $49.99 AMER is rare: steel, dual panoramic glass, USB-C 20 Gbps, 415 mm GPU clearance, and a real 360 mm RGB reverse already installed. It isn’t the airflow king versus an H5 Flow mesh, and it isn’t a storage case. But for a budget AM5 build that should also look sharp behind glass, the brief holds.

The Deluxe at +$10 doesn’t change the chassis — it changes day one. If your fan drawer is empty, take it. Otherwise stick with the black RGB EAN 5056547208312 and finish with the airflow guide. SKUs to remember: CC-S51FB-01 / CC-S51FW-01 / *-D1.
