Gamescom 2026: Samsung 6K, ASUS OLED 540 Hz, AORUS Infinity — the hardware announcements to remember

Opening Night Live on August 25, open doors from 26 to 30. And for once, it's not just about video games — hardware has a huge place this year at Gamescom. Samsung, ASUS, Gigabyte, MOZA... the manufacturers came with heavy stuff. First monitor 6K gaming in the world , an OLED that goes up to 540 Hz , Infinity GPUs with an astonishing cooling system, a PCIe 5.0 SSD with over 14 GB/s read speed.

We take a look at all the hardware announcements that matter.

32 inches. 6144 × 3456 pixels. 165 Hz. This is the Samsung Odyssey G8 G80HS, and it is — according to Samsung — the world's first 6K gaming monitor. The extra thing: a Dual mode which switches to 3K (3072 × 1728) at 330 Hz when you want framerate rather than resolution.

IPS panel, HDR10+ Gaming, FreeSync Premium Pro, G-Sync compatible. Connectivity side: DisplayPort 2.1 and HDMI 2.1. Response time of 1 ms GTG. Nothing crazy on the contrast (1000:1, it's classic IPS) or on the brightness (350 cd/m²), but the pixel density is just crazy on 32 inches.

The problem — and it's a big one — is that to push 6K at 165 Hz, you need an absolutely monstrous graphics card. Even a RTX 5090 will struggle in native 6K on recent games. The Dual 3K/330 Hz mode is probably the most realistic for competitive gaming on a daily basis.

Announced price: approximately 1,500 $ in the United States (1.89 million won in Korea). Already available since May 2026. Samsung is showcasing it at its Gamescom booth in Hall 9, alongside the SSD 9100 PRO and the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra.

ASUS did not come empty-handed. For the 20th anniversary of ROG, the manufacturer is releasing a complete "Edition 20" range — and the centerpiece is the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-G Edition 20 .

26.5 inches, TrueBlack Tandem WOLED panel, QHD (2560 × 1440), 540 Hz . In Dual Mode: 720p at 720 Hz. Response time of 0.02 ms — yes, two hundredths of a millisecond. 1,500 nits peak HDR. Contrast of 1,500,000:1. And above all: DisplayPort 2.1a UHBR20, which allows for QHD at 540 Hz without any compression . Everything is native.

The chassis is semi-transparent — the anniversary edition requires it — and the black/gold design gives a premium feel that differs from the usual plastics. Displayed at 1 199 $ in the United States . It's expensive, but for a 540 Hz OLED with native DP 2.1a, it's average for the segment.

Gigabyte takes advantage of Gamescom to showcase the first European demo of its range AORUS Infinity complete: RTX 5090, 5080, 5070 Ti and 5070, all in INFINITY version with WINDFORCE Hyperburst cooling.

The WINDFORCE Hyperburst, concretely, is a "Double Flow Through" airflow that passes through the card from one end to the other. Hawk and Overdrive fans in tandem, composite metal grease, superconducting heat pipes, die-cast metal backplate, dual BIOS (Performance / Silent), RGB Halo lighting. 3.5 slot format for the RTX 5090 — it's a monster measuring 330 × 145 × 65 mm.

The RTX 5090 INFINITY in numbers : 21 760 CUDA cores , 32 GB GDDR7 on a 512-bit bus, 1,790 GB/s bandwidth, boost to 2,407 MHz (up to 2,730 MHz in OC version). PCIe 5.0, 16-pin power supply, 1,000 W recommended power supply.

The range had already been launched at CES 2026 (RTX 5090), then expanded at Computex 2026 (5080, 5070 Ti, 5070). But Gamescom marks the first contact in Europe — with the X870E AORUS INFINITY NEXT motherboard, the C510 GLASS INFINITY case, and an "immersive gaming playground" booth that should be worth a visit.

Samsung also takes advantage of Gamescom to promote the 9100 PRO , its PCIe 5.0 × 4 NVMe 2.0 SSD in M.2 2280 format. The numbers: 14 800 MB/s in sequential read and 13 400 MB/s in writing. In-house Presto controller, NAND TLC V-NAND, LPDDR4X cache (from 1 to 8 GB depending on capacity).

The rates :

• 1 To : 199 $ (219 $ with heatsink)
• 2 To : 299 $ (319 $ with heatsink)
• 4 To : 549 $ (569 $ with heatsink)

It's not a revolution — Crucial, WD and Kioxia are in the same performance range in PCIe 5.0 — but Samsung remains Samsung. And given the announced rise in NAND prices for the coming years, spending $299 now for a 2TB at 14.8GB/s may not be a bad idea.

Sim racing is taking up more and more space at Gamescom, and MOZA Racing arrives with a strong program. The star of the booth: the official MotoGP simulation hardware , which is making its very first public demo in Cologne. We should also see the R16 Ultra and R5 Pro bases, and especially the first MOZA motion platform with AI-driven feedback and real-time coaching.

Teased a few days before Gamescom: a Ford Mustang GTD steering wheel whose specs remain mysterious. Given the current GT wheels from MOZA (KS at 300 mm with magnetic shifters, Vision GS at 310 mm in carbon), we can expect something premium.

And Asetek SimSports is not to be outdone — the brand is expected to release a sequential lever, a H-pattern shifter, and a handbrake following the show. Thrustmaster and Fanatec? Nothing confirmed at this stage.

Not really for now. Rare are the GPUs capable of pushing 6K at over 100 fps on recent games. The Dual 3K/330 Hz mode of the Samsung G8 is more realistic. If you have an RTX 5090 and you play light titles, why not. Otherwise, a good QHD OLED at 240 or 360 Hz remains a better investment.

No. Gigabyte launched the AORUS Infinity with the RTX 5090 at CES 2026, then expanded the range at Computex 2026. Gamescom is the first showcase in Europe — but the cards are already on sale.

Samsung is in Hall 9, ASUS ROG in Hall 8 (Booth B040), Gigabyte and MOZA in the gaming/hardware halls. The show is huge — plan for at least a full day if you want to see everything.

The Samsung 9100 PRO 2 TB at $299 is probably the most accessible product with a solid performance/price ratio. The ROG Swift OLED at $1,199 is the most impressive on the tech side, but you have to like dropping $1,200 on a screen. And SSDs are going to get more and more expensive in the coming months — so buying now isn't stupid.
