Crimson Desert: secrets and easter eggs you can't miss in 2026

Pearl Abyss has hidden so much stuff in Crimson Desert that even after 80 hours of gameplay, you're still stumbling upon surprises. References to Diablo, a puzzle from Squid Game, walls that vanish when you charge into them Dark Souls style... The continent of Pywel is loaded with secrets the game never signals.

We've scoured all five regions — Hernand, Demeniss, Delesyia, Pailune and the Crimson Desert itself — to compile all confirmed easter eggs and hidden mechanics that the community has unearthed since the March 19, 2026 launch. Some are fun nods, others unlock real rewards (skill points, unique weapons, fast travel). In short, it's not just cosmetic

This one is probably the wildest. In the Ancient Ruins of Drakesfall Gorge, you come across a row of aligned statues. The central statue slowly turns its head to scan the area. You get the idea? It's the Red Light, Green Light from Squid Game, puzzle version.

The rules are the same as in the series. You move forward when the statue is looking away, you stop dead when its head turns back toward you. If it catches you moving, you fail. Gotta go slowly, no rushing. The reward? An Abyss Artifact that gives you a real skill point. Not just a nod for laughs — it pays off.

If you've played Diablo, you know the drill. From time to time, a goblin with a chest on its back runs away on the roads of Pywel. You gotta catch it and kill it before it disappears. The loot? A gold ingot exchangeable at any bank for 500 silver coins. Not bad at all in early game. Problem is, these goblins are fast and spawn randomly. When you spot one, charge.

After Chapter 1, when you arrive in Hernand Town, look at the lampposts along the streets. Not the big billboards — the isolated lampposts. On one of them, there's a bounty poster for a certain Salvatore, whose appearance is clearly inspired by the legendary Elden Ring player Let Me Solo Her — the one who helped thousands of players beat Malenia with nothing but a pot on his head. The name also evokes The Godfather, obviously.

Head to Sunset Valley to track down and face Salvatore. The quest validates like a regular bounty, with loot to match.

This mechanism, no one explains to you. Zero tutorial, zero indication. And yet it's everywhere.

Some walls in Crimson Desert are illusory. If your lantern or Guiding Light highlights a wall but nothing happens when you press interact... walk into it. The wall dissolves and reveals a hidden passage or secret room. Classic for Souls veterans, but here it can take dozens of hours before you realize it if no one tells you.

The thing to do systematically: activate your lantern (L1/LB) in every cave, every ruin. If a marker appears on a wall without interaction, try the passage. You have nothing to lose.

Now we're full Breath of the Wild. Your light reflection skill on the weapon can concentrate a sunbeam on raw food placed on the ground. And it actually cooks it. Yes, you read that right.

But that's not all. The same mechanism sets fire to wooden structures, bushes, carts, and even enemies. It also reveals hidden relics and shows objects that NPCs are carrying. Pearl Abyss clearly wanted to encourage experimentation, and the community is still discovering new uses every day since launch.

Right next to the customizable house near the Gray Manes camp, there's a huge hole in the ground. No indication, no quest, nothing. And if you jump in? Hidden area. It's the kind of secret that rewards pure curiosity — exactly what we expect from a good open-world.

60 Abyss braziers. Hidden on cliffs, in caves, atop rocky pillars, sometimes behind quicksand fields. Scattered across the game's five regions. It's probably the most satisfying collectible of 2026 because each discovery gives you something useful:

• An Abyss Artifact (skill point) per discovered location
• A fast travel point at each location — no more need to retrace
• The Pilgrim of Wonders trophy when you find them all

The difficulty isn't finding them on the map — it's physically accessing them. Some require traversal skills like aerial Force Palm for vertical boosts, Gliding for horizontal reach, or Triple Aerial Focus Palm to reach the highest peaks. Tip: unlock these skills first if you want to farm Cressets early.

Hernand focuses on vertical climbs and underground drops. It's the starting region, so you can start grabbing them pretty quickly. Demeniss and Delesyia mix caves and collapsed ruins. Pailune is still partially mapped by the community — 17 locations remain to be confirmed. And the Crimson Desert zone itself? Quicksand, massive pillars, and the game's toughest spots. Good luck.

Crimson Desert hides its best weapons in places where no one thinks to look. Behind waterfalls, at the bottom of caves, or as rewards from bosses you can completely skip if you just follow the main quest.

ATK 17, Speed Lv. 2, with three integrated Abyss Gears (Insight I, Gale I, Destruction I). Hidden in a chest at the bottom of Dawn Cave, behind a waterfall in the Mountain of Lost Souls. The kind of spot you only find if you explore every corner or if you have the habit of going behind every waterfall — which you should do systematically in this game, by the way.

ATK 21, Speed Lv. 1. A monster weapon hidden in a chest in Death's Grip Cave, behind — again — a waterfall, northwest of Lake Kharonso. The lesson to remember: waterfalls in Crimson Desert are never just decorative.

ATK 25 with the Abyss Wound of Darkness. The most powerful weapon among the secrets. You get it by beating the boss Antumbra's Sword at the Sanctum of Absolution. It's not an easy fight — bring stock and potions

Accessible after Chapter 4, once the "The Spire of Stars" quest is completed. The Secret Garden is a laser redirection puzzle in the Abyss, and it's seriously well-made.

The principle: you move blocks with Axiom Force, you activate spheres with Force Palm, and you orient lasers toward colored placements (blue and orange). When both panels are lit, a barrier falls and an air current propels you upward. There, you connect a conduit, you climb, you activate a pedestal with Force Palm, and the Abyss Artifact appears. A well-deserved skill point.

Before entering the puzzle, think about searching the sides of the path. There's a hidden chest accessible by gliding south (2x Epidote + an Abyss gear), and another near the teleporter with a Faded Abyss Artifact.

In the forest of Pororin, southeast of Hernand Castle, kids keep knocking you out repeatedly. You try to escape? They knock you out again. It's not a bug. After three KOs, an Shai NPC appears and offers you a quest. You must retrieve a relic from a giant ant — climb on it or wait for the right timing — and bring it back to access the village.

The trap is clever: most players will try to flee or fight, when the real solution is to accept being knocked out and be patient. Pearl Abyss rewarding patience over brute force — respect.

When climbing a cliff, aim at a point above you to propel yourself upward without consuming stamina. If you slip, press Circle to grab back on. This allows you to access elevated areas much earlier in the game than intended — perfect for farming Abyss Cressets before you have traversal skills.

Every tomb you encounter at a crossroads contains a sealed Abyss Artifact with a challenge to complete. Use Guiding Light (L1+R1 / LB+RB) to spot a big luminous circle around their position, even from far away. It's not decoration — every crossroads tomb is a guaranteed puzzle.

Hold the attack button (RB) for Kliff to automatically chain a complete combo. And after beating the Hornsplitter boss early in the game, equip the Lord's Sword as a secondary weapon — it gives access to Wind Slash, an overpowered ranged attack you can spam. Honestly, it makes mid-game much easier.

Grindstones and anvils are scattered throughout the world. Use them to temporarily boost your weapon's attack or your armor's defense via a short cutscene. It's free, it's everywhere, and almost nobody does it. Look for them before every boss.

Pearl Abyss launched a Black Desert x Crimson Desert crossover event that introduces cosmetic items in BDO inspired by Crimson Desert creatures. A pet and house ornament take up the design of the golden star boss shown in the trailers. The community speculates that similar designs might appear in Crimson Desert as in-game items, but nothing confirmed for now.

On the hidden equipment side, the Dark Fog Lantern is a real game-changer for secret hunting. You get it via the Alfonso House faction quest in Hernand, "Transcendent Structure," after "The Weight of Legacy." This enhanced lantern reveals memory fragments, hidden clues, sealed Abyss Artifacts, blue glows and ghost holograms. In short, it's the first thing to unlock if you want to hunt secrets seriously.

Two tools. That's all you need.

• The lantern (L1/LB) highlights nearby loot, memories, destructible objects and points of interest
• Guiding Light (L1+R1 / LB+RB) reveals distant artifacts, fast travel spots and puzzle locations as luminous markers on the horizon

The reflex to develop: use both at every new elevated viewpoint or every zone entrance. It's basic stuff, and it completely changes the exploration experience.

Last tip: the game isn't even two weeks old. The community continues digging through less explored regions like Demeniss and Pailune. More secrets will definitely surface in the coming weeks. We'll update this article when that happens.

There are 60 Abyss Cressets spread across Pywel's five regions. 43 are confirmed and mapped by the community, the remaining 17 are mainly in Pailune and partially explored areas.
